IT TAKES A VILLAGE:

We often hear the phrase, “it takes a village to raise a child,” however; it also takes a village to support those that are raising the child. As a result, it can take a group effort to help hold the parents/guardians together when the natural order of life has been disrupted. When a parent(s) has to endure the unimaginable task of burying a child, it is important that that their new journey in life is guided by those that can most understand. This is why “Supportive M.O.M.’s” was created.  A peer support group formed to serve those mothers/grandmothers that have experienced the loss of a child or grandchild. Children are often raised not only by their parents, but also their grandparents, aunts or others. In those instances, we welcome those motherly figures as well.

The goal of Supportive M.O.M.’s is to create a supportive environment where participants can share their experiences, offer tips and provide encouragement to each other as everyone works collectively to move through their grief to find peace and healing. We also look to laugh just as much as we cry, giving a true balance throughout the healing process.
